Uber Freight introduces dedicated lanes to unlock consistent earnings for carriers

For small businesses operating in a pandemic environment, being able to plan ahead is critically important. Historically, in the trucking industry, carriers (especially small carriers and owner-operators) have spent hours each week booking individual loads to keep their trucks full. This means having to spend precious time and resources on planning for just a few days of operations at a time, which often results in inconsistent earnings. 

At Uber Freight, we’re committed to responding quickly to carrier needs and rolling out tools that help keep businesses moving forward. Today, we’re excited to announce our new dedicated lanes feature, which opens new opportunities for carriers of all sizes to earn consistent income, work more efficiently with facilities, and grow their businesses. With this feature, carriers will be able to lock in regular loads across 1,000-plus dedicated lanes and plan their operations up to 3 months in advance, giving them more flexibility and time to focus on running their business. 

Over the coming weeks, the dedicated lanes feature will be available in our web portal, and we plan to have functionality in the Uber Freight app soon after. Carriers will be able to search more than a thousand dedicated lanes, all with upfront pricing, to find an opportunity that works for their business. After selecting their volume and day of week preferences, they will automatically start receiving tenders for the length of the commitment. 

Carriers will benefit from more consistency in their day-to-day operations. Shippers, whose operations rely heavily on carrier stability and reliability, will benefit from having committed carriers running their lanes consistently, ensuring less volatility in the load tendering process and additional foresight in a fluctuating market.
